We need your help

Thumbtastic of Cape Cod pool in East Falmouth was launched in May 2021 with the aspiration to provide weekly health and fitness programs to the local community. We started off with four Aqua classes with Sandy on a weekly basis with a sturdy attendance of 8 to 10 in each class! And then due to popular demand, we started offering four more Aqua classes and 8 hours of swimming classes a week in collaboration with other institutions and instructors!

"As a new full time resident of Falmouth, I was delighted to find an instructed Aqua class. Not only did I have the opportunity to improve my well being but the shared care and concern exhibited by Sandy made it a must! This really is a service that Falmouth needs to allow to continue." - Maryanne Coll.

"It is an honor to acknowledge the professional contributions  by Sandy and Thumbtastic pool for Falmouth community. In simple terms, having Thumbtastic pool and Sandy's expertise made complicated times in my life and that of other "mermaids" easier to bear and the happier times sweeter than we felt deserved." - Paulette "Ronnie" Mebane

"Our organization supports adults with disabilities through community living services and social/recreational programming on Cape Cod. We were fortunate to learn of Thumbtastic of Cape Cod this past year and have worked with Sandy for seven months to coordinate physical activities that are very beneficial to our members. Sandy's training and skills have been extremely well received by our members who look forward to her classes and pool-based water programs." - Mary Ann Mathews, Director of Esprit, Partnership of Independence, Inc.

We were making a positive impact to the community.

Sadly, we had to (hopefully) temporarily cease the pool activities due to town's restrictions that we unfortunately overlooked during the construction and we have been trying very hard to work on them. We have done as many necessary changes onsite but we are now in a pickle. More expenses needed and we just could not afford an additional $20,000 to complete further maintenance and obtaining permit. Here are some of the upgrades that are needed to move forward:

  1. Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) toilet

  2. Wheelchair lift and handicap bars

  3. Reconstruct bathroom to be ADA compliant

  4. Plumber

  5. Electrician

  6. Legal fees

....and the list goes on.

It is very challenging to stay sustainable as a small business despite working so hard these past couple of years. We would really love to reopen Thumbtastic pool to continue contributing to the community but in order to do that, we humbly ask you for help, and we would appreciate any amount. Monetary donations can be done here or via Venmo, or you could also reach out to me (Sandy), to arrange donations in cash or check. Alternatively, if you would like to donate an item for us to raffle at our fundraising event, we'd be more than happy to accept them. If you ever need to view the site, please feel free to reach out to me to schedule a visit.

Thank you for helping our mermaid community!
